About AYSO

AYSO’s mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs, which promote a fun, family environment based on our 5 philosophies:

AYSO a National Organization is governed by the National Board of Directors (NBOD) and the National President. The organization is divided into 13 sections across the United States. Each section consists of a Section Director and staff, Area Directors and staff, Regional Commissioners, and the Regional Board of Directors, all of whom are volunteers.

Truckee AYSO is Region 740, in Area F, Section 2, of the American Youth Soccer Organization.

AYSO is a National Association Member of the United States Soccer Federation. We adhere to the Laws of FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) with some minor variations. AYSO promotes short-sided games. We believe the most effective way for a child to develop his/her soccer skills is to increase the number of touches during play. It has been proven that short-sided games promote increased touches. Additionally, AYSO allows for reduce field size within guidelines based on the age divisions and number of players on the field.

The region is headed by the Regional Commissioner, supported by the regional board, every volunteer helps makes the Region a success. The regional board is made up of about 25 to 35 hard working, dedicated individuals. From the Coach Administrator who organizes coaches and training to the Referee Administrator who coordinates the referees and their training, along with volunteers who make up our coaches, referees and team parents. Without them there could be no practices, games, or program at all. Every volunteer is vital in the success of our program.

Each year the NSTC (National Support and Training Center) headquarters of AYSO holds Section Conferences where regions are encouraged to attend training seminars in management, coaching, for referees and much more. This year Truckee was represented by 9 members of our board of directors who gave up their weekend to attend. This year the Conference theme was MORE:

AYSO is about MORE, Give MORE, Get MORE, Play MORE, Be MORE .

If you are interested in GIVING MORE, for the children in our community we welcome and need your help. Please contact us by email or talk to a board member. Each year EVERY VOLUNTEER must fill out a new volunteer form. We recommend using www.eayso.org. Your personal information (Social Security Number and Drivers License Number) are secure and when you need to re-register in upcoming years, it’s EASY.
