Key Points About the Truckee Spring Alliance Program
Tryouts - new dates TBD
Tryouts for the Spring Alliance teams were originally scheduled for November 16 and 17, 2025; however, they have been postponed to a date still to-be-determined. Stay tuned for more information on rescheduled tryout dates.
Age Groups
For the spring 2026 Alliance season, we hope to field U10 Boys and Girls teams, and U12 Boys and Girls teams. All players who participated in those age groups during the fall season are eligible for the same divisions in the spring.
Games
Truckee Alliance teams may enter the 8-game GBYSL Recreational League season for Spring 2026, which runs from April to early June – typically on Saturdays.
Practices
Weather permitting, practices start once per week in March in West Reno (off Robb Drive). If field conditions allow, that is likely to increase to twice per week starting sometime in April, and transition to Truckee as fields come online.
Tournaments
The teams will play one or two tournaments in late Spring – likely the Davis World Cup on Memorial Day Weekend, and possibly another tournament in Carson City or South Lake Tahoe (TBD). These tournaments will be at additional cost (see below).
Cost
The registration cost will be approximately $250 per player (final cost to be determined in January 2026), which includes fees to play in the GBYSL league, as well as a uniform and practice field space. Each tournament typically costs an additional $90 per player. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if your family could benefit from a scholarship. Travel and accommodations are the responsibility of families. It is encouraged that each team organize a fundraiser or ask for community donations to help offset costs.
Eligibility and Player Ability
Tryouts are open to all Truckee residents of the appropriate age, unless they are already registered to a club soccer team (as a rostered athlete). The skill and commitment level for Truckee Alliance teams will not be as advanced as club programs, however, the program is intended to be more competitive and designed to develop athletes further along the AYSO player pathways. Your child need not have been registered for AYSO’s Fall season to be eligible for Spring Truckee Alliance.
More Details
All participants, Coaches, Players and Parents acknowledge that AYSO Rules and Regulations apply and pledge to uphold AYSO’s core philosophies.
The Alliance Program differs from our regular fall season program in the following ways:
- The number of players able to participate is limited by available coaches and tournament roster size limitations.
- Alliance is a select program in which players are invited to participate on their team. Applicants are not guaranteed placement and may be rejected for any number of reasons, including their skill level, attitude and past behaviors.
- The commitment and expenses differ from the fall AYSO season - there are additional travel and tournament fees.
Coaches
Coaches participating should be of excellent quality. At a minimum coaches (head or assistant) must:
- Have a current Volunteer Application on file
- Be an AYSO trained and age-specific certified
- Be Safe Haven Certified (new course)
- Be approved by the Truckee AYSO Regional board.
Coaches must have completed age specific training/certification levels as follows:
- U10 Alliance Team – U10 Coach certification (U12 recommended)
- U12 Alliance Team – U12 Coach certification
