Referees

Welcome New and Returning Truckee AYSO Referees!!

Hi all! We need your help! Without a referee our kids’ games are just scrimmages. AYSO trainings teach you everything you need to know to be successful! All you need is a desire to help, we will handle the rest. We know at first, that refereeing can seem intimidating and we are here for you! At AYSO we foster a culture of positive coaches, positive spectators and fun for kids. AYSO’s mission is to enrich childrens’ lives and referees are a HUGE part of the equation. Referees are at our games to make them “safe, fair and fun”. We have a level of referee for you! Whether it’s refereeing 8U kids, being an Assistant Referee or being a Center Referee for our older kids, we need you!! We are currently recruiting new and returning referees for the Fall 2019 season, see below.

News

Our returning Referee Administrator, Steve Anderson, is extremely motivated to put a trained referee at every game. Steve is an Intermediate Referee/Referee Trainer, Coach and dedicated Truckee soccer parent, and is excited to work with our youth and parents to continue to take our referee program to the next level. Steve has developed incentives for youth and adult referees and will be holding a pre-season meeting and mid-season meeting to gather our referees for support, food and fun. Being a referee is a great way to give back to the Truckee Soccer Community that allows you to pick up games whenever you can. With our easy schedule system, you can simply pick and choose the games you can help with. You can reach Steve by email with any questions, any time, at [email protected]. Training dates will be posted shortly!

How to Become a Truckee AYSO Referee

Step 1 – Register as an AYSO Volunteer
All referees must register as volunteers annually. Youth volunteers (ages 10-17) will need a parent or guardian to complete the on-line volunteer process for them. Register on-line as a Volunteer with AYSO at www.truckeeayso.org, follow the links and fill out the volunteer registration form.

Step 2 – Complete Safe Haven and Concussion Awareness
All new referees must complete:

All New Referee’s complete the Basic Referee Course requirement to earn their Regional Referee badge. Class dates and times will be posted shortly!
